Esther Taylor
MEd (Special Education), BMus(Hons)
Piano Teacher
Esther is an experienced piano teacher, teaching students from beginner level through to diploma standard. She teaches piano at St Laurence School and from her home studio, and has previously taught at Kingswood School in Bath. Many of her students have gone on to study Music at university. Esther regularly accompanies piano students for ABRSM and Trinity examinations and supports them with confident, well-structured exam preparation.
Performer and Accompanist
Esther studied piano at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire under Gordon Fergus-Thompson and took part in masterclasses with Bryce Morrison and Peter Donohoe. She has extensive experience accompanying instrumentalists and singers and regularly accompanies candidates for ABRSM and Trinity instrumental and singing exams.
Choral Accompanist
Esther is the piano accompanist for the Courage Choir, conducted by Fliss Courage. The choir recently achieved a Distinction in the ABRSM Advanced Choral Singing Exam. Esther has accompanied the choir in performances across the South West, including the Mid Somerset Festival, the Komedia, the American Museum, and Holy Trinity, Bradford on Avon.
Classroom Music Teacher
Esther gained Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in 2003 and has taught classroom music from Early Years through to A level. She has a strong interest in the Kodály approach and is undertaking training as an accredited Kodály practitioner with the British Kodály Academy. She enjoys using practical, structured methods to help students develop strong musical foundations.

Inclusive Practice and Ongoing Development
Esther is passionate about inclusive teaching. She holds a Master’s degree in Special Education from the University of Birmingham and is currently completing a Level 5 Diploma in Teaching Learners with Dyslexia, Specific Learning Differences and Barriers to Literacy through Dyslexia Matters. She is also working towards her Grade 8 singing exam and continues to develop her musicianship alongside her teaching.
